Why Optics Matter

Place your mouse cursor over the picture on the left of a regular lens. Notice as it changes to Optima's aspheric lens design the distortion on the edges is eliminated. Lens distortion occurs in a regular lens when your eyes move from the optical center toward the edge causing images to look bowed or disproportionate. Optima's new, computer-engineered aspheric lens design eliminates this distortion and improves your appearance and vision.

An aspheric lens:

  • makes the lens flatter and therefore thinner at the edges
  • eliminates peripheral distortion and improves your vision
  • images appear more natural in size and proportionate
  • makes your eyes look more natural — no more "coke bottle" or "bug eye" look

Place your mouse cursor over the picture on the left of a non-AR coated lens. Notice as it changes to Optima's AR coated lens reflections and glare are totally gone and the eye is now visible. Optima's Anti-reflective Coating (Hydrophobic AR) is a metallic coating that is applied to the lens. It provides dramatic benefits in how well you see and how well you look when wearing lenses with an AR coating.

AR (Anti-reflective) coatings provide cosmetic and optical benefits for the lens wearer. AR coatings:

SR (Scratch Resistant) coatings provide protective benefits for the lens wearer. SR coatings:
